The Why Behind MedRx Logistics
When Hurricane Ida hit, big-name carriers shut down. FedEx, UPS, and the postal service weren’t delivering, but patients still needed their medications. When traditional carriers failed, our team proved what healthcare logistics in the Gulf South could truly look like.
That’s when we stepped up.
At the time, our founder Drew was grounded in Louisiana for personal reasons. He checked in on his drivers, made sure they were safe with their families, and asked them to stay in touch. Then, he called key contacts at Ochsner Health and said simply, “We’re ready. We’ve got fuel for a month. We’ve got drivers. Let’s get to work.”
Within hours, Drew was signing contracts and coordinating emergency delivery logistics from Ochsner’s main campus. At first, we helped funnel packages to FedEx facilities. But it quickly became clear: FedEx wasn’t getting back in. So we pivoted to direct local deliveries, calling patients, coordinating alternate addresses, and ensuring critical medications got where they needed to go.
We were on the roads just days after the storm passed, sometimes ahead of the hospital’s own recovery timeline. Our four-wheel drive vehicles delivered through flooded neighborhoods and downed power lines. It was about continuity of care. About stepping in when others couldn’t.
Since then, we’ve expanded that same rapid-response mindset into everything we do. From Snowmageddon to regional disaster relief, we’ve earned our reputation by delivering under pressure. Whether it’s medication, emergency supplies, or the peace of mind that comes with knowing someone’s got your back—we show up. Every time.
